Watkins Vision Comes From Football Passion
Jason Watkins is an experienced sportswriter and podcast host with a passion for college football. With 19 years of experience covering the Big 12 and SEC conferences, Watkins has developed a deep understanding of the game, the players, and the coaches. He has a keen eye for detail and a talent for storytelling, which has made him a trusted voice in the world of college football journalism.
Jason began his career in journalism as a beat writer for a local newspaper in his hometown of Artesia, NM, where he quickly developed a reputation for his insightful reporting and thoughtful analysis, and later was named sports editor at the Daily Press.
Over the years, he has covered some of the biggest college football games and events, including national championship games, bowl games, and the College Football Playoff, along with 3-of-4 Professional Golf Majors, The Final Four and The Super Bowl.
From there, Jason went on to be Sports Editor at the Hobbs (NM) Daily News-Sun from 2002-2006, where he was twice named New Mexico Sportswriter of the Year (2003-04) and was an honorable mention in enterprise reporting in Class D the APSE Contest.
In addition to his work as a sportswriter, Watkins is also a respected podcast host.
He is currently the host of the successful and popular Hall of Fame College Football Podcast, where along with co-hosts Bryce Pinson and The Coach, Phillip Roybal, he shares strong opinions and insights with his listeners.
His podcasts have become a must-listen for Big-Time College Football fans, especially fans of the Oklahoma Sooners and Big 12 Conference, as well as Coach Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes, and — increasingly — news and issues surrounding the SEC Conference, where the Sooners begin play in 2024.
